Accidental Project Manager

My professional experience is a unique blend of random occurrences and strategically placed decisions. As I’m growing older (30y/o) I believe now is the time to find a more stable career choice that can provide me with stability and clarity as I mature in age.

When I graduated from The Ohio State University, I had no idea what career path I would be on. My degree was in science so I figured I could work in the science field as I grow. That only lasted a few months before my wandering mind decided it would be a better idea to enter into an MBA program. Partly because I wanted to be back in school and more importantly I wanted a change of scenery as I didn’t think I was ready to enter the job market. Fast-forwarding 4 years I feel ready more than ever to compile my skills and experiences to enter into a career in project/product management.

A product manager in the digital sense is responsible for working with developers, markets, designers, and CEOs to bring a product to market that aligns with their target user. A successful product manager has years of diverse experience working with cross-functional teams to reach a common goal. While not necessary, it’s quite beneficial to understand all the aspects of your team to be able to work with them applying empathy to get the job done successfully and on time. A lover of learning I find myself infatuated with all aspects of a business. Whether software development or UI/UX design I find all parts of the business puzzle to be essential to the overall success of any organization.

The job of a project manager is to monitor the project from beginning to completion. I’ll be treating this blog post in the same light.

To be continued…
